Art of Bronze was honored to provide the city of Gardnerville with this heartwarming custom bronze bench sculpture, a welcoming public artwork that celebrates companionship, community, and cherished memories. Installed in the city’s downtown district, the sculpture features a distinguished gentleman enjoying a quiet moment while reading the newspaper alongside his two beloved dogs.
The gentleman is portrayed in a relaxed and natural pose, seated comfortably with one leg crossed over his knee. Dressed in a jacket and tie, he conveys a sense of timeless character and everyday charm. Careful attention was given to the realistic detailing of his clothing, posture, and expression, creating a figure that invites visitors to pause, reflect, and interact with the artwork.
The sculpture is mounted upon a custom-designed bronze bench that includes a commemorative plaque positioned on the backrest beside the seated gentleman. The plaque honors one of the dogs, “Whiskey,” who faithfully sits nearby. To ensure the memorial accurately reflected the city’s vision, Art of Bronze customized one of the dogs to match the appearance and coloring of the second dog, creating a more meaningful and personal tribute.
