Art of Bronze was honored to create and install the spectacular bronze eagle statue Dinner for Two for the entrance of the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center. This dynamic sculpture captures a powerful moment in nature—a bald eagle returning to its nest with a fish in its talons as a young eaglet waits eagerly below.

The sculpture is elevated on a custom-crafted black granite base, thoughtfully designed to showcase the artwork and provide a commanding presence at the site entrance. Every detail reflects the movement, strength, and nurturing instinct of these remarkable birds.

Art of Bronze was also honored to collaborate with the generous donor whose passion and deep appreciation for the bald eagles nesting and raising their young at Blackwater is truly commendable. This meaningful work of art serves as both a tribute to wildlife conservation and a lasting symbol of nature’s beauty.

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) was established in 1933 as a waterfowl sanctuary for birds migrating along the Atlantic Flyway, and currently encompasses more than 32,000 acres.  The refuge contains one-third of Maryland’s tidal wetlands, which makes it an ecologically important area within the state.  It has been referred to as the “Everglades of the North,” and has been called one of the “Last Great Places” by the Nature Conservancy.

Blackwater NWR is home to the largest breeding population of American bald eagles on the East Coast, north of Florida.  In addition, Blackwater NWR has been designated as an Internationally Important Bird Area.
