Art of Bronze proudly presents this exceptional bronze bust of a hunting dog (after Prosper Lecourtier), a striking tribute to intelligence, loyalty, and refined sporting heritage. The sculpture is masterfully rendered, showcasing piercing, focused eyes and tensed, upright ears that convey alertness and purpose — as if the dog has just locked onto its mark.
The strong, noble features suggest influence from the Braque family of gun dogs, a foundational lineage credited with shaping many of today’s modern pointing breeds. This subtle historical nod enhances the sculpture’s authenticity and connection to upland hunting tradition.
The bust is cleanly cropped just below the chest and mounted on an elegant bronze base, creating a balanced and timeless presentation suitable for any interior style. Cast using the traditional lost-wax process and finished in a rich patina, the piece highlights exquisite anatomical detailing, smooth contours, and enduring craftsmanship.
Perfect for display in a home, office, lodge, or trophy room, this distinguished hunting dog sculpture makes a meaningful gift for sporting enthusiasts, dog lovers, and fine art collectors alike.
A refined and commanding work of art — honoring the steadfast bond between hunter and trusted companion.
Prosper Lecourtier (1851-1924), was a student of Emmanuel Frémiet (1824-1910) and exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1875 until his death in 1925. Frémiet seems to have passed on to his student his passion for the animal world. Lecourtier possessed a true sense of naturalism in his anatomical modeling and the expressions of the animals he portrayed. Lecourtier won several medals at the Salon and at the Universal Expositions.
