Art of Bronze was honored to create these charming walking bronze tortoise sculptures as part of a public art installation for the Marketplace at Santee shopping center in Santee, California. Designed with both artistic beauty and interactive enjoyment in mind, these lifelike tortoises were installed within a landscaped artificial grass cove where children naturally gather to play and explore.
Each tortoise is expertly sculpted using the traditional lost wax casting method, showcasing detailed armored shells and richly textured scaling that reflect the rugged beauty of these ancient reptiles. The carefully balanced walking pose gives the sculptures a sense of gentle movement, creating an inviting and approachable design suitable for both public and private environments.
These tortoises were specially engineered to be durable and structurally sound, allowing children to safely sit, touch, and interact with the sculptures. Their friendly presence encourages imaginative play while also serving as an engaging artistic focal point.
