The Fallen Soldier Battle Cross, Battlefield Cross or Battle Cross is a symbolic replacement of a cross, or marker appropriate to an individual service-member’s religion, on the battlefield or at the base camp for a soldier who has been killed. The practice started during or prior to the American Civil War, as a means of identifying the bodies on the battleground before removal.  Today, it is a means of showing respect for the dead amongst the still living members of the troop.

This special Korean War Era memorial features a M1 Garand rifle, M1 steel pot helmet and leather combat boots.  Custom bronze plaques can be affixed to the bronze base at an additional cost.  Korean War Era Fallen Soldier plaque shown is $700.00.

The Korean War emerged as a pivotal conflict in the early years of the Cold War. Following North Korea’s surprise invasion of South Korea in June 1950, the United States, under the auspices of the United Nations, swiftly intervened to repel the communist aggression and restore stability to the region. For the U.S., the conflict represented a commitment to containing the spread of communism in Asia, mirroring the broader ideological struggle of the Cold War era. Despite initial setbacks and the protracted nature of the conflict, which eventually evolved into a bloody stalemate along the 38th parallel, American military intervention helped prevent the complete conquest of South Korea and reinforced the country’s resolve to resist communist aggression. The armistice signed in 1953, while ending active hostilities, left the Korean Peninsula divided along ideological lines, underscoring the enduring legacy of the war and its implications for U.S. foreign policy in the years to come.
