Samurai Warrior

Art of Bronze was honored to create this extraordinary bronze samurai statue, a monumental custom commission inspired by the legendary warrior Kusunoki Masashige. The project began when a Chicago businessman visited Tokyo’s Imperial Palace and became captivated by the famous equestrian monument honoring one of Japan’s most revered military heroes. Inspired by the power and artistry of the original, he commissioned Art of Bronze to bring his vision to life in bronze.

Over the course of more than ten months, skilled artisans carefully sculpted, molded, and cast this remarkable work of art. The finished sculpture measures over 10 feet in length and approximately 7½ feet in height, creating a dramatic and commanding presence. The spirited horse is depicted in a dynamic pose, being reined back with its head curled toward its chest, tail sweeping outward, and one leg lifted from the ground. The sense of movement and energy gives the impression of a warrior charging courageously into battle.

Exceptional attention to detail can be found throughout the composition. Every element of the samurai’s armor, weaponry, horse tack, and ornate helmet was meticulously sculpted to reflect the craftsmanship and tradition associated with Japan’s warrior culture. The result is a breathtaking tribute to courage, honor, and loyalty.

Kusunoki Masashige is celebrated as one of Japan’s most loyal and respected samurai leaders, having fought in service of the Emperor during the early 14th century. The original equestrian monument remains one of Tokyo’s most recognized landmarks and a lasting symbol of devotion and sacrifice.
