Art of Bronze is pleased to present this classical bronze statue of a standing woman with her rooster after Auguste Moreau (French, 1834-1917).  She gracefully stands holding her rooster basket atop her left shoulder and her rooster dangling in her right hand.  Marvelous detailing can be seen throughout the entire sculpture.  The sculpture is from a private Brentwood, CA estate.  It’s in excellent condition with wear consistent with age and permanent indoor use.

The owner was a passionate collector of many different styles of bronze sculpture artwork.  If you have a love for classical sculpture, call an Art of Bronze representative at (805) 908-5355.

Auguste Moreau was the son of famous sculptor Jean-Baptiste Moreau, who acted as his first teacher.  He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and exhibited for the first time in 1861, reaching great success at an early age.   The bulk of his sculptures were derived from allegorical or romantic figures and consisted of maidens, Pan, cherubs, or cupids.  He was a member of the Salon des Artistes in France for around 50 years.
